Anonymous protests for those who have been murdered due to the "Church/Cults" Religious Practices.
Anonymous protests for the Tax Exempt Status to be removed from this Business of Religious Murderers.
Anonymous protests For the Disconnected Families whose voices are tired of crying "Come home" to their loved ones.
Anonymous protests the use of Operation Snow White to Defraud the U.S. Government and the use of Operation FreakOut to in their words "Destroy" critics of Scientology.
Anonymous protests because we know that The Church of Scientology is not a Religion for salvation, it is a Cult of Money and Greed. We can not sit by idly and watch families be robbed, manipulated and torn.
Scientology you will be Destroyed!
For the good of your Followers!
For the good of Mankind!

We are Anonymous
We are Legion
We do not Forgive
We do not Forget

Beware the Ides of March

Expect Us...Again

This is not surprising. I remember something about the Church of Scientology attacking Newsgroup postings and other things.

From what I've seen, the biggest reason they protest, and the biggest reason they can protest, is tax-exempt status. I've talked to a few Anonymous members, and they've all talked about Scientology's centers, and how you have to buy classes and audits, plus the books and self-assessments. In other churches, members don't really have to give any money to the church, or if they do it's a small ritualistic donation (like in joining a synagogue). In some ways, it's set up like a pyramid scheme.

"Yes, I got a bunch of checks, it was great. If you recruit someone, you will get 10 percent of whatever they pay. In fact, if that person takes (an) intensive 12.5 hours a week, he pays $4,000, and depending on how many people you have convinced that week, you could be making $14,000 a month, which you can spend anyway you want," he said.
-John Keiffer in a post from The Oracle.

Thus far, members of Anonymous have gone to great pains to say over and over that they could care less about the actual doctrine of Scientology.

I realise that Scientology is a bit nutty and has a some influence. But as a European secularist I find it odd that protestors are so much more upset about Scientologists than all the other religious groups, especially in the US, that have what I see as a pernicious influence on public policy.
I feel that the protest video feels too much like a statement of online geek prowess rather than a genuine political statement.
But the phenomenon certainly raises the fascinating prospect that pretty soon we are going to get a political campaign/conflict that is caused, created and acted-out online.
